Foredeck

Although progress is slow on getting to the point that I can start building I'm busy thinking about some of the details.

The foredeck is one. It's likely that in a lot of cases entry to the coat will be via the bow. Stepping up or down from a quay or rock. The mast support will be in the way if stepping into  the boat so I'm planning for some form of deck, but what and how?

Latest thinking is for a false deck ie, unsealed open planking with a watertight locker under. I want something set down just below the gunwhale edge to give a secure footing, and don't want any water traps around the edge.
